This year, we’re lucky enough to get an extra day of the month, and we know just how to spend it. Leap Day doesn’t happen very often (every four years, to be exact!) Use this Leap Day to push the boundaries of logical thinking and have fun while doing it! No Escape Iowa in downtown Ames is sure to provoke some creative problem-solving. Their technology-based escape rooms are fun for all ages. After solving puzzles and escaping, head over to The Mucky Duck Pub with your group for a free appetizer! Dive into new dining
New year, new food! Take this day to let your tastebuds explore new dining experiences around Ames. Cornbred, a locally loved barbecue joint, has recently launched new sticky ribs. Trust us on this, these ribs are out of this world. Since Leap Day falls on a Thursday, it’s the perfect day to take advantage of BOGO margaritas at Celaya Tex-Mex! Sip on a house-made marg and enjoy their delicious chips and queso.

After another (full) trip around the sun, it’s time to get crafty. Octagon Center for the Arts is full of fun and festive holiday workshops all year long. Sign up for a class, pick up supplies for your next craft, or purchase locally made art! Reiman Gardens is another unique place full of nature-themed activities and crafts. While you’re there, don’t forget to stop by the butterfly wing!

It’s not very often that you can plan an outfit for February 29, that’s why it’s important to treat yourself.
