Move and groove

  • Looking to work on your rhythm in 2024? Enroll in an adult ballet, jazz, tap, or Irish dance class at Robert Thomas Dancenter. 
  • Strike a (yoga) pose at Ignite Yoga’s yoga, barre, and pilates classes. 
  • Try a workout class you’ve never tried at Ames Fitness Center. With aqua fitness, dance fit, spin, and barre classes, you’re sure to find something to take you out of your comfort zone and into the new year. 
  • Make the most of dealing with Iowa winters by picking up a winter sport. Head to Seven Oaks Recreation for private skiing and snowboarding lessons with a slope master.

Makers gonna make

  • Drop in to The Workspace, located in the Iowa State University Memorial Union to make the rotating craft they’re currently offering. 
  • Learn how to knit your own sweater with a class at Knittery Nook. They also offer crochet classes, if that’s more your style. 
  • Make a reservation at the Pour Bar at Oak Lane Candle Co. where the experts guide you through creating your own one-of-a-kind candle.
  • Tiny Joy Creations offers creative classes, specializing in connecting the Ames community with local artists and makers. Follow their Instagram for more details on what they’ve got in store and when they’re happening!

Brain-powered

  • Grow your knowledge with weekly trivia. Our favorite spots: Torrent Brewing and Mother’s Pub. (Drinks encouraged, not required.)
