Spend some time outdoors

Center Grove Orchard

Start your fall off right by stopping by Center Grove Orchard for their fall events! In September, visit the orchard for the sunflower and zinnia meadow or plan a visit to pick apples through October at their 20-acre apple orchard. Find the perfect pumpkin at their pumpkin patch, open from September to October. The fun doesn’t stop there, though! Center Grove Orchard also has dining venues, a coffee shop, and County Store retail shop.

 

Black’s Heritage Farm

Black’s Heritage Farm is located a few miles south of Jack Trice Stadium. From Sept. 23 through Oct. 31, take a wagon or trolley ride to the and pick your own pumpkin from their patch! While walking through the farm, pause to take a look at the calves, ponies, pigs, and hens! There are many activities for children, including a bounce house and play area.

 

Explore the gardens

Every Tuesday in September, enjoy a walk around Reiman Gardens with your furry friend! All dogs that are up to date on their vaccinations and registrations are welcome to enjoy the gardens with their owners. You and your pup can also enjoy the trails at the Iowa Arboretum! Well-behaved and leashed dogs are allowed to walk the grounds for only $8.00 a day!

Spirits in the Gardens takes over Reiman Gardens from Oct. 11-13. Get tickets for this beloved Halloween event starting on Sept. 9. If you’re looking for an outdoor escape, the Treehouse Village at the Iowa Arboretum just opened this month. Experience this extraordinary place to play – for adults and kids of all ages and abilities!

 

 

Cyclone Football

Football season is here, and Ames is the place to be for an unbeatable game day experience! Soak up the excitement with a beautiful day grilling out, tailgating with friends and family, and cheering on the Cyclones. Don’t miss the free Music Walk in Downtown Ames on Sept. 19—it’s a unique chance to enjoy live tunes as you explore local shops and restaurants. Each participating business will feature its own musician, creating a lively, musical experience.

 

Farmers’ Market

The Ames Main Street Farmers’ Market runs throughout Oct. 12, offering an array of local goods and community. With over 40 vendors showcasing their wares, you’ll find a rich selection of unique art, fresh produce, and artisanal products.
