Memorial Union Floors 4-6 Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting
The 15-month, $10 million renovation of the top three floors at the Memorial Union is finally complete. The event will kick off in the Campanile Room at 11:00am with a short program, a ribbon cutting by the Ames Chamber of Commerce, a pop-up museum and slideshow for all guests to view the Memorial Union through its many renovation stages. After the short program in the Campanile Room, each office will be hosting their own individual ribbon cutting on floors 4-6 and guests will be able to tour the renovated floors. We are so excited be able to open these dynamic new spaces to students and visitors to Iowa State’s campus!
Here is the short program for the event:
- 11:00am Grand Opening Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting in Campanile Room
(Guests are welcome to enjoy appetizers after the short program and ribbon cutting)
- 11:30am International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) – 4530 MU
- 11:45am The Center for LGBTQIA+ Student Success – 4600 MU
- 12:00pm New Student Programs – 5530 MU
- 12:15pm Military-Affiliated Student Center – 5600 MU
- 12:30pm All of 6th Floor (Student Legal Services, ISU Lectures and NCORE-ISCORE)
This date also happens to fall on the Memorial Union’s birthday! On September 23, 1928, the Memorial Union officially opened, with final construction details continuing until early the next year. Every September, we hold an MU birthday bash and we can’t think of a better time to celebrate than during our grand opening event for floors 4-6!
This event is open to all ISU students, faculty, staff, members of the Ames community and the public. If you are planning to attend, please register via our website (located on the top right of this page.) We hope to see you there!
