Masterworks Concert
The Iowa State Singers, the Iowa Statesmen, the ISU Orchestra, a chamber orchestra, and the Des Moines Choral Society will join to present two large works. The main feature will be Ralph Vaughan Williams’ widely performed “Dona Nobis Pacem,” a 35-minute masterwork that decries war and pleads for peace. Texts come from both Walt Whitman and Scripture. It will feature soprano Isabel Morales and baritone Andrew Cox, both senior music majors. In addition, the Iowa State Singers will perform Jake Runestad’s “Footprints,” a 30-minute work for choir and chamber orchestra. The exquisite poetry in this new composition is by Guatemala poet Humberto Ak’abal.
Admission is $15 for the general public. ISU students and youth under 18 are free. Tickets are available at the Stephens Ticket Office. Ticket office hours are Tuesday-Friday 11am – 4pm and 90 minutes before show time.
