Jazz Night “The Music of Thelonious Monk”

Thelonious Monk shattered the dogmatic notions of jazz composition and improvisation. His writing was unconventional, his bandleading was unique, and his soloing was unorthodox. Despite all of these differences, he is one of the most revered jazz musicians in the history of the art form. jazzONE and the ISU Jazz Combos will dedicate a full concert to his music, featuring treatments by Miho Hazama, John Fedchock, John Clayton, Oliver Nelson, Paul Motian, Oz Noy, and Wynton Marsalis.
