Ames: A Glimpse Inside

Ames: A Glimpse Inside is a free open house event at eleven historic properties. The event is located in the historic downtown Ames and the Brookside residential area, which recently has been listed on The National Register of Historic Places.

• 1002 Brookridge Avenue residence

• 1208 Park Way residence

Join us as a volunteer as participants look behind the scenes into Ames’ historic past. Volunteers are needed for eleven locations in nine buildings. Volunteer shifts are 2 1/2 hours. Volunteers will be trained to guide visitors and share information about the property. The open locations are functioning businesses and homes. All properties feature various adaptations for contemporary living. These adaptations allow current and future generations to learn from and enjoy these historic resources.
