No Escape Iowa

Discover technology-rich escape rooms at No Escape Iowa! Located in downtown Ames, their rooms are designed for all ages and are even suitable for birthday party hosting. The Workspace at Iowa State Memorial Union

Get creative on a rainy day at The Workspace! From drop-in crafts to painting your own pottery, there is always something fun happening here. Their events calendar is packed with activities for you and your friends to explore when the weather keeps you indoors.

 

Ames Public Library

The Ames Public Library is a wonderful destination on a dreary day. With a wide variety of events, from Family Storytime and Conversation Circles to book clubs and bingo, there is something for people of all ages to enjoy, especially when the weather turns sour.

 

Theater Shows

Experience world-class entertainment at Stephens Auditorium! With live music, theater, and comedy shows regularly on the schedule, there is sure to be something to liven up your rainy day. For more local performances, the Ames Community Theater (ACTORS) is presenting Over the River and Through the Woods this April. Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. on April 2, 3, 4, 10, and 11, and at 2:00 p.m. on April 12. ISU Music & Theatre is also offering performances of Peter and the Starcatcher at 7:30 p.m. on April 16–18, 2:00 p.m. on April 19, and a Youth Matinee on April 17 at 10:00 a.m.

 

Ames Museums

Ames is home to some fantastic museums that offer educational and enriching experiences for when you’d rather be indoors. The Ames History Museum in downtown Ames is the perfect place to learn about the city and its fascinating past. On Iowa State’s campus, the Brunnier Art Museum showcases stunning works created by alumni and local artists. Additional campus museums, including the Christian Petersen Art Museum and the Farm House Museum, each offer a wonderful opportunity to deepen your appreciation for Ames and Iowa State University’s rich heritage.
