Scandinavian Coffee and Craft Fair
This marks the 69th year members of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames, Iowa have celebrated its cultural heritage through the Scandinavian Coffee with food, music and traditional Scandinavian décor on Saturday Oct. 18 beginning at 9 a.m.
Each year, members of the congregation prepare traditional Scandinavian baked goods that will be offered to those attending. The beautiful tea table will be set with Rosettes, Potato Cakes, Krumkake, Kringla, Spritz, Swedish Tea Rings and much more. In addition, baked goods will be available for sale in the bake shop. Live Scandinavian fiddle music by Iowan Dave Swenson will be offered during the event. Traditional Norwegian folk costumes or bunads, will be on display as well as worn by some members of the congregation. Grandma’s Attic and a craft sale (including some Scandinavian-featured items) round out the activities. A meatball lunch will be available for purchase beginning at 11 a.m. Proceeds are used to support local organizations or activities of Bethesda Women’s Ministries.
