George Washington Carver Day celebration
Paxton Williams, an attorney with Belin McCormick, will portray George Washington Carver at Iowa State University’s Memorial Union as part of a Feb. 1 state-wide celebration of Carver’s contributions to agriculture.
Williams is a 2000 ISU political science and communications graduate. He earned a law degree from University of Chicago Law School. Williams served as the executive director of the George Washington Carver Birthplace Association from 2005-2009, and he has portrayed Carver in a one-man show hundreds of times across the country.
The Carver Day celebration will begin at 5 p.m. with registration and beverages. Additional speakers include Jay Byers, Ken Quinn, and Simon Estes. Following the program, ISU Creamery ice cream will be served.
