Free Fishing Weekend – Learn to Fish
June 2-4 is Free Fishing Weekend! Do you or someone in your family want to try fishing? The Story County Conservation naturalist staff will be at the Dakins Lake Shelter with poles, tackle, and bait starting on Friday, June 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. If you don’t know how to cast a pole, we’ll teach you. Not sure which knot to tie? We’ll show you. The best part, no fishing license is required so any age can fish for free! While you’re at, bring a picnic lunch to have at the park. This event is free and has no registration deadline! Watch our Facebook for updates or cancelation in case of severe weather.
If you can’t make it to this event, be sure to still take advantage of the Free Fishing Weekend at our parks! This weekend is made possible by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
