Arbor Day Celebration

In recognition of Arbor Day and the value trees bring to the community, the public is invited to an Arbor Day Celebration from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, April 26, at Homewood Golf Course, hosted in partnership with the Ames Chamber of Commerce and The Ames Foundation. This event will include the unveiling of a work of art commissioned in honor of Virginia Stafford.

Additionally, Ames Parks and Recreation received a grant from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for $5,000 to help plant 50 trees near Ames High School. The trees will be planted between Northwestern and Grand avenues and between Murray Drive and 20th Street. A volunteer planting event will be held on Saturday, May 18, beginning at 9 a.m. Interested volunteers should meet at the corner of Northwestern Avenue and Murray Drive.
