Ames: A Glimpse Inside
This unique, behind-the-scenes experience transforms familiar streets into living history, allowing participants to step inside vintage homes, heritage businesses, restored civic buildings, and sacred spaces in Ames’ Main Street and Old Town historic districts. Each location offers a new perspective on Ames’ evolution, architecture, and community life. Visit eleven businesses and residences – more information on the locations coming soon!
Ames History Museum is a stop on the tour and will have free admission! Thanks to Ames: A Glimpse Inside for admission sponsorship.
Join us as a volunteer, as participants look behind the scenes into Ames’ historic past. Volunteers are needed to host at ten locations: Ames History Museum, the Ames Tribune Building, Ames UCC, Avec Design + Build, KHOI Radio, Potter’s Shoppe & Eatery, The Recipe, and two Old Town residences.
Volunteer shifts are 2 1/2 hours. Choose 10am-12:30pm or 12:30-3:00pm.
