Events throughout the year bring the space to life in memorable ways. The annual Octagon Art Festival, now in its 54th year, draws thousands to downtown Ames to celebrate local and regional artists. Inside the Octagon Shop at 413 Douglas Avenue, visitors can explore a curated selection of handcrafted work by more than 175 regional artists. The collection includes jewelry, pottery, paintings, woodwork, and textiles with each piece with its own story. The staff is always happy to share details, answer questions, and help people find something meaningful to take home.
