Iowa State University Memorial Union

Located in the heart of Iowa State University, the Memorial Union has long served as a central gathering place for campus and community life. Opened in 1928 as a living memorial to Iowa State students who lost their lives in World War I, the building continues to honor its original mission as a place for connection, culture, and shared experiences.

Today, the Memorial Union offers a wide variety of activities and amenities, making it a popular destination for visitors of all ages.

Things to do include:

  • Shop at the University Book Store
  • Enjoy a variety of dining options, coffee spots, and a convenience store
  • Bowl a few frames at the on-site bowling center
  • Explore creativity through the art studio and gallery spaces
  • Attend concerts, performances, lectures, and campus events
  • Host or attend meetings and special events in flexible event spaces
  • Park conveniently in the attached parking ramp

Blending historic significance with modern amenities, the Memorial Union remains a vibrant hub where students, visitors, and the community come together to eat, shop, relax, and experience campus life year-round.
