Marketing Intern

Summer 2026

The marketing intern will work closely with the Discover Ames marketing team to provide supplemental assistance as needed for key program areas, projects, and events. The ideal candidate is passionate about Ames and is passionate about showing visitors to the area all there is to discover in Ames!

Reports to: Digital Marketing Specialist

Primary responsibilities

• Support the marketing team with planning, implementing, and monitoring marketing campaigns
• Create content for Instagram Reels & TikTok
• Write blogs and itineraries for the Discover Ames website
• Front office and reception support
  • Fulfill Visitor Guide mailing requests
• Provide support for a variety of marketing programs, special events, and sales and service support
• Stay up to date with current marketing and social media trends

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of relevant social media and video editing tools and applications
• Proven ability to work collaboratively as a team member
• Attention to detail
• Superior organizational and time management skills
• Ability to lift materials up to 35 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license

Other information

Availability to attend community events outside standard business hours (evenings and weekends) for content creation purposes.
