DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Spring leg of our Fifth and Clark Fridays continues with Courtney Krause and Meara Rose\n\nCourtney Krause is a Des Moines–based singer-songwriter known for lyrically driven, emotionally rich songs that explore relationships, communication, and honesty. Blending modern takes on country, folk, soul, rock, and rhythm, her work creates an intimate dialogue where both sides of the story are heard. Her debut album, Thoughts and Sound, introduced her reflective, conversation-forward style. The follow-up, Tie Your Tongue | Bite Your Lip (2018), a 10-track exploration of difficult conversations and vulnerable expression, received notable airplay on Iowa Public Radio. Praised for her compelling voice and depth (Cityview), Krause has been featured on KCWI 23, KCCI 8, Iowa Public Radio, and KFGM Homegrown, and has performed at events including the 80/35 Music Festival and DMMC’s Little BIG Fest. A committed community contributor and volunteer, she was named a Des Moines Register “People to Watch” (2017) and “Musicians to Watch” (2018). In 2024, Krause graced the front cover of Iowa History Journal. Anticipation for the third album grows. Meanwhile, her music is available on major platforms including Amazon, Spotify, Bandcamp, and more.\n\nMeara Rose is a pianist, vocalist, songwriter and producer who recently returned home to Iowa after 10 years in NYC. After receiving a full ride scholarship to the University of Iowa, she studied classical piano with Dr. Ksenia Nosikova, and graduated with honors. Meara’s debut EP, “I’m The One,” is a creative fusion of Meara’s love for soul music, Latin jazz, and her classical roots. Meara writes and produces all of her own music and plays the vast majority of the instruments on her EP. She performs regularly throughout Iowa and hopes to expand her touring schedule in 2026.\n\nAdmission to this event is $10. Advance tickets are on sale now, or you can pay at the door. Students will receive 2-for-1 admission by showing their student IDs at the door!\nThese shows are made possible with generous funding from The Iowa Arts Council and The National Endowment for the Arts!\n
