SUMMARY:History Happy Hour
DESCRIPTION:Join in a spooky evening at the museum! Dive into the history of witchcraft with Dr. Michael Bailey, sip on two themed drinks, and enjoy exclusive after-hours exhibit viewing. This event is for ages 21+. Advance reservations required.\nThere are two time slots available for this event – 5:00-6:30 PM and 6:30-8:00 PM.\nLearn more and purchase tickets: ameshistory.org/witchcraft\nEvent sponsors:\nAlluvial Brewing\nEverts Flowers Home & Gifts\nDr. Michael Bailey will discuss the famous witch hunt in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692, the largest witch hunt ever to take place in North America. This will be compared to a much more restrained, and in many ways more typical, witch hunt that also took place in New England in 1692. Learn how, even in a society that believed in witchcraft, and which was capable of conducting terrible witch hunts, there could also be considerable restraint and skepticism. Dr. Bailey is a historian of the European Middle Ages, whose research focuses on late medieval religious history, particularly the history of magic, witchcraft, and superstition, as well as heresy and religious reform.\nEach attendee will receive two drink tickets. Drink options include:\n\nBloody Bellini – cherry and champagne\nAlluvial Brewing beer\nUnder the Blood Moon Punch (non-alcoholic) – grape juice, fruit punch, lemon-lime soda, blackberries\n\nThis event is for ages 21+. Valid ID required.\n
