DESCRIPTION:Join us on August 9th as we celebrate 21 miles of continuous pavement now connecting all five communities across southern Story County! The Heart of Iowa Nature Trail now connects Slater, Huxley, Cambridge, Maxwell and Collins – a long-awaited milestone that officially opened this spring.\nPedal across Story County, enjoy a glimpse of small-town Iowa and scenic views of prairie, woodlands, and Iowa farmland.\nPaving efforts over the last six years have created much anticipation, and we’re thrilled to celebrate!\nRoute\n\nRolling start from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. will take place in Slater at Heart of Iowa Nature Trail Trailhead and Arboretum. Riders will travel 21 miles east, to Collins, where a ribbon-cutting will take place at 12:30 p.m. Festivities will take place in each community – plans are still pending, stay tuned for more details!\nRolling start 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. in Slater at Trailhead and Arboretum.\nRide to Huxley (4 mi)\nRide to Cambridge (4 mi)\nRide to Maxwell (7 mi)\nRide to Collins (5.5 mi) – Ribbon Cutting at 12:30 p.m.\n\nCyclists are welcome to join in for as much or as little of the ride as they wish!\nTo Register:\nRiders are encouraged to register, although the ride itself is FREE. T-shirts can be purchased at an additional cost as a registration add-on.\nRegistration takes place through Eventbrite.\n
