DESCRIPTION:Paxton Williams, an attorney with Belin McCormick, will portray George Washington Carver at Iowa State University’s Memorial Union as part of a Feb. 1 state-wide celebration of Carver’s contributions to agriculture.\nWilliams is a 2000 ISU political science and communications graduate. He earned a law degree from University of Chicago Law School. Williams served as the executive director of the George Washington Carver Birthplace Association from 2005-2009, and he has portrayed Carver in a one-man show hundreds of times across the country.\nThe Carver Day celebration will begin at 5 p.m. with registration and beverages. Additional speakers include Jay Byers, Ken Quinn, and Simon Estes. Following the program, ISU Creamery ice cream will be served.\nThe event is free, but registration is encouraged.
