DESCRIPTION:An alternative gift is a charitable donation designated in honor of someone else. Gift recipients receive a description of the gift made in their name. The gift options, offered through partnership with carefully vetted nonprofit organizations, create sustainable change and impact lives.\nAn in-person community market will be held at Wheatsfield on Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Representatives from the Ames market will be present to take orders and to distribute cards and inserts. At the in-person market, you can choose “gifts” from local, national, and international agencies.\nIf you miss the in-person event, you can still make a difference in the lives of people. Pick up a catalog at the Co-op between Dec. 9 and Dec. 22. You can place your order directly with Alternative Gifts International by phone, mail, or online. Note that when ordering directly from Alternative Gifts International, “gifts” from local agencies will not be available. If you wish to use a local agency, please see the contact information below. The local agencies represented are: ACCESS, Bethesda Food Pantry, Food at First, Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance, Habitat for Humanity of Central Iowa, and The Bridge Home.
